About

Combine your passion for space with the power of design in this hands-on workshop!

Explore how to design for outer space and extreme environments alongside MIT students in outer space + design, and guest Dr. Cody Paige, Director of the Space Exploration Initiative at the Media Lab.

Focusing on design skills applicable to various disciplines, students will engage in two hands-on workshops around the theme of outer space. We will delve into several design skills including ideation, low-fidelity prototyping, and problem framing.

This event is organized in partnership with WPS, whose mission is to catalyze the shift to connected, empowering, and unbounded learning.

Audience

In this session, middle and high school teachers are encouraged to sign up with 5-10 of their students. Students and teachers will have the opportunity to work together, and will also break out into student-only and teacher-only groups.

Perks

Lunch will be provided and students will get to take their prototypes home.

Guest speakers

  • Cody Paige, Director of the Space Exploration Initiative at the Media Lab.
  • Mateo Fernandez, multidisciplinary designer pursuing a Master of Architecture at MIT.
