John Cary is founding president and CEO of the Eames Institute of Infinite Curiosity, a public charity dedicated to advancing the legacy of Ray and Charles Eames and their approach to problem-solving.
Previously, John was a consultant to the Aspen Institute and the Obama Foundation. He was a founding team member and senior program officer of The Audacious Project at TED. Cary is author of “Design for Good: A New Era of Architecture for Everyone” (2017) and “The Power of Pro Bono: 40 Stories About Design for the Public Good by Architects and Their Clients” (2010).
A native of Milwaukee, Wis., John lives in a cohousing community in the Temescal neighborhood of Oakland, Calif., with his partner and wife, author and speaker Courtney E. Martin, and their two daughters. He is a 10-time marathon finisher.
