Location Based Tourism
Locast tourism is a participatory media platform designed around the tourist experience.
Locast tourism, a location-based platform for travelers, was a project done in conjunction with RAI, Italy’s national broadcasting service. Locast aimed to augment the 4 phases of the being a tourist: Organizing your trip, Traveling, Discovering, and Remembering + sharing.
Using Locast tourism, travelers could watch geo-located media created by others, as well as media that was taken from the archives of RAI TV. Locast tourism consisted of a mobile and web application which were used to browse and create content. In addition, the Locast team prototyped and tested a wearable wayfinding device for a deployment in Venice, Italy.
